White Garlic Pizza Sauce

ALTHOUGH I CALL THIS A "PIZZA" SAUCE, IT REALLY IS ONE OF THE MOST VERSATILE SAUCES THAT I MAKE. I HAVE USED IT FOR A WIDE VARIETY OF THINGS;  PIZZA, PASTA, AND EVEN CHICKEN! THE POSSIBILITIES ARE REALLY ENDLESS. ANOTHER GREAT QUALITY ABOUT THIS SAUCE IS THAT YOU CAN VERY EASILY MAKE IT YOUR OWN BY ADDING DIFFERENT herbs or spices!

Ingredients 

3 T butter

3 cloves garlic, minced

3 T flour

1.5 cups milk, warmed

1 tsp salt

1/2 tsp pepper

1 tsp Italian seasoning

 

Begin by melting the butter in a small sauce pan. Once the butter is almost all melted, add the minced garlic and allow to cook until garlic is softened...usually 1-2 minutes.  After the garlic is cooked, add the flour, using a whisk. Stir constantly.. This mixture should form a paste and will act as a thickener for the sauce once you add the milk. In order to get rid of the starchy flour taste, you have to cook the mixture for an additional 1-2 minutes. Next, begin adding the milk to the flour mixture while whisking. Finally, after you've added all of the milk, add the salt, pepper, and Italian seasonings! Cook this mixture for 4-6 minutes until it begins to simmer and becomes thick. Store in an air tight container (I like mason jars best), in the fridge for up to a week. The sauce may thicken while sitting in the fridge, but you can easily thin it out by re-heating it and adding milk, 1 tablespoon at a time,  until the desired consistency is reached!
